Introduction – Wise sayings are available to anyone who desires them. Hosea 4:6a

I. Available truth – vv 1-3

  • Wisdom and instruction – divine revelation – v. 2
  • Understanding – discern good and evil – v. 2
  • Instruction of wisdom – knowledge to guide in:
    1. Justice – to God
    2. Judgment – to men
    3. Equity – with sincerity

II. Those that need wisdom – vv. 4-6

  • Simple – ignorant to graciously wise – Mathew 10:16
  • Young – inexperienced to restrained and managed – Job 11:12b
  • Wise – good to great – Counselor
  • To reveal the truth – the sense and use of it

III. Fundamental morality – vv. 7-8

  • God is to be feared, served and worshipped – 2 Corinthians 10:5
  • Fools have no fear of God’s wrath
  • Parents are our superiors for good – Hear, heed and retain

Conclusion – living a life of value – Proverbs 1:9.

Conclusion – I Kings 4:29-34 – Unique in all the earth.

Introduction: Only Christ could look beyond the storm of His cross and see a bright cloudless morning. – Hebrews 12:2

I. The cup – Luke 22:40-46

  • Held the guilt of man
  • The pressure of holiness being cursed
  • The thrill of Satan

II. The cross – Luke 23:33-35

  • Forgiveness offered
  • Mocked and scorned
  • Forsaken – Matthew 27:46

III. The cry – Matthew 27:50-54

  • Darkness in the day
  • Veil torn in Temple
  • Earthquake, rocks split
  • Graves opened, dead raised
  • The Savior died

IV. The call

  • Led captivity captive – Ephesians 4:8-10
  • Mercy seat in heaven
  • Returned alive – John 20:15-17b

Conclusion: Christ’s storm did what we could not do for ourselves – go and tell others that He is alive.
