Introduction: The disobedience in the garden resulted in a curse but the fix is found right where the problem started.

I. The failure – Genesis – 2:16-17; 3:6

  • Eating from the tree of death
  • Eve was deceived, Adam failed to take a stand

II. The curse/woman – Genesis 3:16a

  • Pain in childbirth
  • Rebellion to authority/husband – Genesis 4:7

III. The curse/man – Genesis 3:16b-19

  • Frustration in work
  • Selfish to others/wife

IV. The cure

  • Love for the wife – Ephesians 5:25
  • Respect for the husband – Ephesians 5:22

V. The picture

  • Christ and His bride/church – Ephesians 5:32-33

Conclusion –The husband and wife respectively become the answer to the curse as they allow Christ to live through them.

Introduction: Within all of creation, God built in a cycle of rest – Have you taken a breath lately?

I. The design – Genesis 2:1-3

  • Six days on – one day off
  • Input cycle of rest in humans, muscles, minds, land, plants, animals

II. The purpose

  • To unburden – Exodus 23:10-12; Luke 13:10-17
  • To recreate – Mark 2:23-28
  • To refocus – Mark 3:1-6

III. The need

  • To be set apart/ free – Deuteronomy 15: 1-6

Conclusion – We desperately need a weekly reassessment (or check-up) of how we are doing in this area of rest in order to re-align our lives so we can receive God’s blessing.

  • A choice
  • The consequences

III. The Fall – Genesis 3:1-7

  • Temptation – False promise
  • Doubt and denial of God’s Word
  • God was right – Romans 5:12

Conclusion: Innocence regained – Romans5:17-19

  • Distinction of times and seasons

V. Day Five: Animal Life – vv. 20-23

  • Sea and air – fish and fowl

VI. Day Six: Earth Life – vv. 24-27

  • Animal life on earth
  • Man in His Image
    • Nature – soul, mind, will, emotion
    • Authority – representative
    • Purity – Ephesians 4:24; Colossians 3:10

Conclusion: Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

Introduction – We find the first article of our creed, that God made heaven and earth, in the first few pages of scripture. It is our comfort to see the epitome and embryo of creation.

I. The thing produced – Heaven and Earth

  • Acts 17:24 – What we observe
  • Variety
  • Beauty
  • Exactness/accuracy
  • Power
  • Order/mutual dependence
  • Mystery

II. The Author – God

  • Elohim
    • El – Strong God
    • Plural – Godhead/trinity
    • Colossians 1:16

III. The Process – out of nothing

  • No pre-existent matter
  • God is above natures law
  • All Glory to Him – Colossians 1:17

IV. The when: Time Began

  • We began with God – John1:1

Conclusion: Things to learn:

  1. Atheism is foolish
  2. God is sovereign
  3. God can do anything – Psalm 121:2
  4. He is worthy of praise and service – Revelation 4:11

Conclusion- When listening to God, we will hear His promises – Psalm 32:8-11

I. The misery of a broken promise – I Corinthians 15:12-19

  • No life after death
  • Faith is vain
  • The witnesses lied – most miserable

II. The fear of not knowing- Matthew 27:62-28:4

  • Because of disbelief – Matthew 28:11-15
  • Because of doubting – John 20:2, 9

III. The joy of an empty promise

  • Foundation of life- I Corinthians 15:1-8
  • First fruit of all resurrected life – I Corinthians 15:20-23
  • Deaths pain is removed – I Corinthians 15:54-57

Conclusion- I Corinthians 15:58 – Our faith is not empty; it is the only way to make this life count

I. How quickly we forget – vv. 1-3

  • Discontentment and murmuring always reside close to our hearts

II. God’s gracious rain – vv. 4-12

  • God’s hears our complaints
  • God promises speedy and constant supply
  • To see if they would trust and serve Him – Deuteronomy 8:3

III. God’s promised delivery – vv. 13-21

  • Feast at night – good things for necessity and delight
  • What is it by day – daily providence
  • Diligence and prudence – Psalm 104:28
  • Contentment and satisfaction with sufficiency

Conclusion: The same God that brought manna gives us all things richly to enjoy. – Psalm 136:25
